2023: Wike, Okowa, Other PDP Governors Divided Over Ayu’s Removal

Governors who were elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform disagree over proposals to depose Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, one of the requirements put forth by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for peace to return to the party is the removal of Ayu.

Wike and his supporters, which include some governors, are pleading with Ayu to step aside because he previously stated that he would do so if the party’s presidential candidate also hails from the nation’s north.

According to information obtained, PDP NWC members are also divided since they owe allegiance to governors who made it possible for them to be elected to the party’s organ.

The PDP Governors Forum is split into two groups, although one of them is apparently indecisive at the moment. The group has not met since Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State was announced as the running mate of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and Okezie Ikpeazu, who represent the states of Oyo, Benue, Enugu, and Abia, are among those who support Wike. Ayu and Atiku Abubakar are reportedly supported by Okowa, Aminu Tambuwal, Ahmadu Fintiri, Darius Ishaku, Godwin Obaseki, Emmanuel Udom, and Diri Douye of the states of Delta, Sokoto, Adamawa, Taraba, Edo, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa.
