Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president, has requested that Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, identify the members of Atiku’s team responsible for the lawsuit contesting his victory in the presidential primary.

Anaedoonline.ng had previously reported that a lawsuit with the case number FHC/ABJ/CS/782/2022 had been filed against the PDP presidential candidate, Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State, and the PDP regarding the way the party’s presidential primary was conducted, which took place in Abuja on May 28 and May 29, 2022. The lawsuit was allegedly instituted by Wike and a man named Newgent Ekamon.

But Wike had asserted that Atiku supporters were behind the litigation, despite the fact that he denied having any involvement.

“I want to tell the candidate; it is the candidate’s group that are doing all these things. Let the world hear, they are the ones plotting all these things, thinking that they will spoil my name; they cannot,” Wike had said in a statement on Friday by his Media Aide, Kelvin Ebiri.

Reacting to Wike’s comments, Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, described the Rivers governor’s claim as ridiculous.

‘’Why will the candidate of a party go to the extent of instigating a suit against anybody? It does not make sense since he (Wike) is making the allegations, he has to provide evidence,’’ he told Newsmen.

“We are committed to the process for the resolutions of the issues. It is important that we do that for the good of the party for the unity and cohesion of the party and for the good of Nigerians who are looking up to the PDP as the major opposition party to wrestle power from the APC and turn around the broken social, economic and political fabric. We remain committed to that process.”
