Wike Reacts Over Ayu’s Suspension From PDP On Anti-Party Activities

The administration of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has requested that Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, resign from his position.

In their appeal for party harmony, Governor Wike’s supporters also requested the right to select Ayu’s successor.

Prior to the meeting of a six-person committee made up of officials from the PDP presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Wike, the supporters made these demands.

According to a former member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Atiku would demonstrate that he upholds the inclusivity pact if he made sure Ayu was fired.

He added that Governor Wike’s trust has been compromised by the PDP National Chairman.

Wike would have won the party’s presidential primary, according to the source, who spoke to Newsmen on the condition of anonymity.

He urged the party to offer Wike’s camp the position of Ayu’s successor because to the changes they would be making in preparation for the 2023 election.

The source said, “By ensuring the removal of Ayu, Atiku can be said to have shown that he can keep to the agreement of inclusiveness, trust and avoid any victimisation of the supporters of the Rivers State governor.

“Dr Iyorchia Ayu has betrayed the confidence of the Rivers State governor, Wike.

“Nigerians know that Wike would have won the ticket, but for treachery. He lost the presidential ticket and the chances of becoming the running mate to the presidential candidate due to treachery.

“Wike has lost twice. He wants to be a stakeholder in the presidential campaign. So, we want the office of the national chairman, because of what we will be bringing on board. Wike has a lot to bring on board. He has capacity.”
