Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, the spokesperson for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), responded to a social media user who said he had sold Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), to the Northerners.
According to the Twitter user, Baba-Ahmed would profit from Obi’s presidency, and the NEF spokesman was criticizing South East leaders in order to advance the LP flag bearer’s candidacy.

The Twitter user had written: “You need to understand that Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed undoubtedly benefit more when Obi/datti wins the Presidency. However, he needs to sells obi to Northerners to achieve that, thus, he is asking South East leaders to condemn the attack so that he can tell Northerners that Obi can be trusted.”
Replying, Baba-Ahmed explained that candidates have to meet his standards of potentials in good leadership before he decides to sell them.
He said, “I do not sell candidates until they meet my standards of potentials in good leadership. There is nothing in it for me personally”.
