Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Atiku Abubakar’s running partner for the presidency in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has chastised Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party for visiting churches.

Okowa, who talked with media in Kano State on Wednesday, emphasized that the church is not called to engage in politics and that he does not think it is appropriate to do so.

He bemoaned the fact that some presidential contenders are currently doing anything, even putting their faith at risk, out of desperation to win the February 2022 election.

“Now you begin to look at what is going on; the Peter Obi factor is as if he is trying to go through the church and make it look as if he is driving the Christians into politics. I do not believe that the church should actively go into politics because that is not their calling.

“But people are just hanging to anything they can reach out to even to the detriment of their fate. I don’t believe that’s the right part to go,” he said.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Peter Obi has frequently made appearances in various church programs.

Remember how a video of the former governor of Anambra, who received an out-of-the-ordinary standing ovation when he arrived at the Glory Dome in Abuja, trended across all social media platforms?
