Deji Adeyanju, a political activist, has denounced the alleged assault on Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s presidential candidate, on Wednesday in Kogi State.

According to allegations that surfaced earlier, several hoodlums stoned and heckled the former governor of Kano State when he arrived in Kogi to inaugurate the party’s secretariat and campaign headquarters.

The presidential candidate was allegedly stoned with water sachets while courting supporters of the late former Kogi governor, Abubakar Audu, in Lokoja, the state’s capital.

The Kwankwaso Campaign Organization, however, refuted Thursday’s reports that the NNPP presidential candidate was humiliated in Kogi in a statement.

The organization’s spokesman, Ladipo Johnson, issued a statement in which she claimed that the claims about Kwankwaso’s reception in the state were untrue.

Adeyanju responded to the news via his Twitter account, calling the alleged assault on Kwankwaso and the NNPP’s Kogi state governor candidate repugnant.

According to the former PDP member, politics shouldn’t deteriorate to the point of criticizing elected officials.

He wrote: “The attack on NNPP guber candidate in Kogi State & Kwankwaso is hereby condemned. Politics must not degenerate to that level.”
