According to ANAEDOONLINE.NG, Serie B club Benevento has signed Nigerian attacker Simy Nwankwo on a season loan from Salernitana with the option to buy permanently.

ANAEDOONLINE.NG Sports Extra reported last week that the 30-year-old striker is in negotiations with Benevento after spending the second half of the season on loan at Parma in Serie B and being declared surplus to requirements at Salernitana.

Simy has appeared in 82 Serie B games, scoring 35 goals and providing 10 assists. He is also Nigeria’s all-time Serie A leading scorer with 31 goals in 101 outings, however he has not scored in the league since October 2021.

The former Crotone striker could make his debut for his new team on Saturday when Benevento host Cagliari in a Seria B clash.

Meanwhile, Salernitana has replaced the Nigerian with the loan signing of Krzysztof Piatek from Herta Berlin.

The deal comes with an option to buy for the Granata and Herta will pay part of the striker’s salary during his loan spell at the Stadio Arechi.

Piatek has already played with Genoa, Milan and Fiorentina in Serie A. He spent the second part of last season on loan at the Stadio Franchi, scoring six goals in 18 appearances across all competitions.
