The chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Cross River, Mr. Ogar Osim, has issued a warning to party members and supporters not to use violence or incite hatred while endorsing Mr. Peter Obi as the party’s presidential candidate.

While discussing the best method party supporters should act in support of the party with newsmen in Calabar on Thursday, Osim delivered the suggestion.

The party needed the advise as it prepared to welcome Obi to officially open the secretariat that had been given to it by one of its senatorial candidates, Mr. Daniel Asuquo, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He stated that the party’s presidential candidate was not difficult to introduce or market because of his well known antecedents.

“As supporters of our great party, you don’t need to be unruly; we are obedient supporters of a very marketable candidate of a fast growing political party in Africa.

“We do not have any need to abuse any one, spread hate speech or even incite people against the other.

“Our principal is well educated and the several schools he attended are traceable and verifiable, he has impeccable credentials both in education, business and leadership, so it is not difficult at all to present him for election,” he noted.

Even in remote areas, he claimed, it was crucial that everyone was aware of the party’s logo—a family, signifying the father, mother, and children.

He continued by saying that while many Nigerians were aware of Obi, not as many were aware of the LP logo. As a result, they needed to start educating the populace about their brand right now.
