The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) leaders are working feverishly to put an end to the internal turmoil that is roiling the organization and delaying the launch of the party’s campaign committee and preparations for the 2023 presidential election.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the main opposition party experienced a crisis following the selection of Atiku Abubakar as its presidential candidate and Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the PDP, has been called upon to resign by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, some of his supporters (Governors Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom, and Okozie Ikpeazu of Oyo, Benue, and Abia States, respectively), and other PDP officials.

According to insiders, the meetings are a part of the PDP’s efforts to unite its leaders and stakeholders to find a solution to the crisis that is roiling the opposition party.

According to sources, the trip to London, UK, by Governor Wike and his associates will allow the group to strategize on recent changes in the party, Anaedoonline.ng learned.

The source said: “Wike and Ortom have travelled to London. They went to meet Makinde. They are in London as we speak. I don’t know about Ikpeazu. But he should join them.”

As of press time, it was unclear whether the group will meet with any of the presidential candidates as they did the previous time.

Recall that on their previous journey to London, Wike, Ortom, Ikpeazu, and Makinde met with Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

They reportedly demanded that Ayu be replaced as the party’s national chairman before to the 2023 elections as a prerequisite for party unity when they met with Atiku.
