CID Maduabum, the director general of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, has denied rumors that Aminu Tambuwual, the forum’s chairman and the governor of Sokoto State, had quit.
Following Tambuwual’s apparent resignation, reports surfaced on Thursday stating that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde had been elected as the new chairman of the forum.
In a response to the reports, CID Maduabum called them false in a statement to press.
As the party seeks to resolve its dilemma, Tambuwal will remain in his post, according to the director-general of the forum.
The statement reads: “This is to inform the general public and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR, has not resigned as Chairman of the Forum contrary to some media reports.
“Members of the PDP Governors Forum are working behind the scenes to resolve all contending issues concerning the Party.
“To this end a meeting of the Forum will soon be convened.”
Also speaking, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba said, “It is not true as at this time, I have no information that he has resigned and if he has resigned, I will be in the best position to know.
“Right now, there are procedures for resignation that’s why when the BoT chairman resigned it was communicated to me and I released it to the public.”
