Abdullahi Mashi, the father-in-law of Tukur Mamu, an assistant to Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad Gumi, a prominent Islamic cleric, was taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Thursday night.

This is happening as Mamu’s allies are still being targeted by the secret police hours after they broke into his Kaduna home and office.

DSS agents reportedly paid a visit to Ibrahim Tinja, Mamu’s brother-in-law, as well.

Wednesday saw the deportation of Tinja to Nigeria after her detention in Egypt along with Mamu.

According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, Mamu and four members of his family were detained on Wednesday at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport.

This is in response to their request to be expelled from Egypt made by the Nigerian intelligence services.

Along with his two wives, eldest son Faisal Mamu, and brother-in-law Tinja, Mamu was detained while traveling to Saudi Arabia for a lesser hajj.

But while Mashi’s son and brother-in-law are still being held by the secret police, Mashi has been freed.
