Prior to President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to the state on Tuesday, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) made a warning, which the Imo State Government has denied.
Declan Emelumba, the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, stated during a news conference on Saturday in Owerri that IPOB couldn’t pose a threat to Buhari.
Emelumba stated that security personnel were prepared for the president’s travel to Imo in response to an IPOB threat to declare a sit-at-home in the state on Tuesday.
Sit-at-home Order: IPOB Orders Total Lockdown In Southeast Tuesday
According to Anaedoonline.ng, IPOB on Tuesday ordered a sit-at-home throughout the Southeast.
The Southeast saw a day of civil disobedience on the sit-at-home day, according to IPOB.
Prior to Nnamdi Kanu’s appeal court hearing and Buhari’s scheduled trip to the Southeast, the group issued the order.
“Nobody can threaten Buhari. He’s president and commander in chief of the federal republic of Nigeria. Imo is one of the states he governs, and he is free to visit it. Security is in top gear, and I can assure you that his visit will be successful,” Emelumba said.
On Tuesday, President Buhari is slated to dedicate three important projects that the governor Hope Uzodinma administration developed.
