286 foreign nationals from 49 different countries have been given Nigerian citizenship by the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, announced this in an editorial headlined “Ministry of Interior Announcement.”

The paper revealed that, with President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval, naturalization and registration were used to confer citizenship on the recipients.

According to report, it specified that 208 of the beneficiaries would get citizenship via naturalization and 78 would receive citizenship by registration.

The paper states that on September 15, 2022, Buhari will preside over a ceremony at the Presidential Villa to present the awards to the honorees.

It stated that starting on Monday, September 12, 2022, the recipients of the awards must personally present at the relevant ministry to start the necessary documents.

The documents further instructed the receivers to personally visit the Ministry of Interior, Department of Citizenship and Business beginning on Monday to obtain the necessary paperwork and credentials.

108 Lebanese, 16 Italians, 14 Britons, 5 Nigeriens, and 2 Chadians are among the recipients.
Others come from Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Belarus, Somalia, Romania, Serbia, and Somalia.

Those from Egypt, the United States, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Syria, Greece, India, Dominican Republic, France, Palestine, Australia, Scotland, Pakistan, Jordan, Cyprus, and Ireland are also mentioned.

Other beneficiaries are nationals from Turkey, Germany, Israel, Uganda, Liberia, Iran, China, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Venezuela, Iraq, Croatia, Spain, the Philippines, Cameroon, Congo, Eritrea, Sierra Leone, Mali, and São Tomé and Príncipe.
