Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator who represents Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, was attacked, according to new information.

According to an earlier report by Anaedoonline.ng, the businessman was ambushed by unidentified gunmen on Sunday in Anambra State along the Enugwu-Ukwu route.

According to reports, heavily armed assailants ambushed the lawmaker’s escort and started shooting at his vehicle. According to the reports, some of his assistants—including some police officers—were slain in the assault.

The senator’s vehicle was filled with gunfire, yet he was able to avoid being killed.

More information about the tragic incident in the Enugwu-Ukwu community of Anambra State’s Njikoka Local Government Area has come to light.

When gunmen opened fire on the Senator’s convoy, police officers in the convoy engaged the armed men in a gunfight, but some of the operatives were killed, a source told Newsmen.

He continued by saying that the shooters, who numbered around nine, disarmed the four police officers in the convoy.

However, the insider said that the attack was a planned attempt to kill the lawmaker.

A source said, “Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was attacked today by some hoodlums in Enugwu-Ukwu. It was a calculated attempt. It wasn’t an impromptu action.

“The policemen were about four in the convoy and they were attacked.

“All their arms were collected. The boys that spearheaded that attack were about nine in number.”

Toochukwu Ikenga, the state police command’s spokesperson, confirmed the development by saying that the commissioner of police had led police officers to the scene of the incident.

Ikenga, though, said that it was still unclear how many people had died.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Echeng Echeng, has led police operatives to the scene where sporadic shootings took place in Enugwu-Ukwu.

“Though details of the incident are still sketchy, operatives are on the ground there as operations are going on and the situation is being monitored. Further details shall be communicated please.”
