Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, claims the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s same faith ticket has nothing to do with religion.

Gumi urged Nigerians to band together and abandon ethno-religious policies that harmed developing Nigerians.

Speaking with newsmen at his Kaduna residence on Monday about the country’s 2023 general elections, he said it was not right for Bola Ahmed Tinubu to say it was his turn to become Nigeria’s president.

Gumi emphasized, “He (Tinubu) is a good administrator, he can do it. The Muslim-Muslim ticket is unnecessary. We all know. All these politicians are looking for votes. The Muslim-Muslim ticket is not about religion.”

He explained that he does not want to predict who will win the presidency among the presidential candidates because there are a lot of hurdles to cross, emphasizing that all political parties have hurdles as the Muslim-Muslim ticket will be a laboratory test for others to emulate or not.
