Four governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform are working to ensure the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 elections, Anaedoonline.ng has learned.

It should be noted that prior to the May 28 national convention, the PDP leadership abandoned the presidential rotation by throwing the contest open, despite the fact that the main opposition party’s constitution states that the presidency will be rotated between the North and South.

This paved the way for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections.

Since Atiku’s emergence, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who finished second to Atiku at the convention, has been at odds with the party’s leadership.

Wike, who was enraged, blamed his defeat on religion and betrayal by the party leadership, particularly the national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, and the governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, whose sudden decision to stand down for Atiku, he claimed, tipped the presidential primary result against him.

Since then, the River State Governor has been socializing with Tinubu, which led to the recent London meeting.

Governors Wike, Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) had met with Tinubu in London to discuss the possibility of working together.

According to a reliable source, four southern governors are working for Tinubu’s candidacy: two from the south-east, one from the south-west, and one from the south-south.

According to the source, who asked not to be identified, everything is now about personal gain, and while one of the governors is running for re-election, others are looking for a soft landing.

He said: “It’s now about personal interest. Four governors are working for Asiwaju.”
