LATEST: Buhari Presents Tobi Amusan With National Honour

Oluwatobiloba Ayomide, also known as Tobi Amusan, is a track and field athlete from Nigeria who recently broke historic records while competing for her nation in athletic competitions.

Amusan received the award of Officer of the Order of the Niger on September 15, 2022, and President Muhammadu Buhari added her to the list of recipients of Nigeria’s National Honor on that day (OON).

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the 25-year-old athlete received the honor when the president welcomed the Nigerian delegation to the just-completed 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Dignitaries were present for the function this afternoon at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Amosun was not the only recipient of national honors during the ceremony; also honored were weightlifter Adijat Olarinoye of Nigeria and other medalists from the 2022 Commonwealth and World Athletics, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

When Amusan won the women’s 100-meter hurdles in this year’s Diamond League in Zurich, she set the most recent record.

On Thursday, September 8, 2022, The Amazon won the trophy after successfully defending her Diamond League title by crossing the finish line in 12.29 seconds.
