Reno Omokri, a divisive sociopolitical activist and former presidential adviser, has made claims about the monthly salaries received by President Muhammadu Buhari’s staff.
Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to the current president are paid an equivalent of $1200 per month, according to Omokri, who worked as the former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Special Assistant for New Media. On Thursday, he made the revelation on his Twitter page.
Omokri, who published his appointment letter from the Jonathan administration, disclosed that his pay at the time he was engaged by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government was $6500 as of 2011.

However, he pointed out that the Naira’s value has declined since then, therefore the incomes of the present presidential advisers have been impacted by Dollar’s rise against the Nigerian Currency.
Omokri’s tweet reads: “My payslip and appointment letter as Special Assistant to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. My monthly salary was equivalent to $6500. Today, SSA’s to Buhari still earn the same amount, only that their salary is now equivalent to only $1200.”
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Omokri used the descriptions to try to promote Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP candidate running as the party’s nominee for president in 2023.
