According to Anaedoonline.ng, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would represent Nigeria at the State burial for the late Queen Elizabeth II of England in place of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Recall that the 96-year-old queen of Britain passed away on September 8, 2022, at Balmoral Castle in the United Kingdom (UK).
On Sunday through Monday, a multitude of activities would take place in the UK when the Queen was ultimately put to rest.
Osinbajo will leave Abuja on Saturday to join other world leaders, including Commonwealth heads of state, governors general, prime ministers, and representatives of other royal families, to express sympathy to the English royal family.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, a memorial service will take place in Westminster Abbey on Monday.
Osinbajo and other guests and dignitaries are anticipated to be received by King Charles lll and Queen Consort Camilla in Buckingham Palace today in advance of the start of the events on Sunday.
A statement issued on Saturday (today) by Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande reads: “Earlier on that day, the VP will hold a bilateral meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly.
“Queen Elizabeth ll was the Head of the Commonwealth and the longest serving British monarch. She passed on at 96 on the 8th of September this year at the Balmoral Castle in Scotland. The Vice President will return to Nigeria after Monday’s State Funeral.”
