LATEST: Osinbajo To Attend Queen Elizabeth’s Funeral In Place Of Buhari

According to, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would represent Nigeria at the State burial for the late Queen Elizabeth II of England in place of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that the 96-year-old queen of Britain passed away on September 8, 2022, at Balmoral Castle in the United Kingdom (UK).

On Sunday through Monday, a multitude of activities would take place in the UK when the Queen was ultimately put to rest.

Osinbajo will leave Abuja on Saturday to join other world leaders, including Commonwealth heads of state, governors general, prime ministers, and representatives of other royal families, to express sympathy to the English royal family.

Osinbajo and other guests and dignitaries are anticipated to be received by King Charles lll and Queen Consort Camilla in Buckingham Palace today in advance of the start of the events on Sunday.

A statement issued on Saturday (today) by Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande reads: “Earlier on that day, the VP will hold a bilateral meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly.
