Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has a gastrointestinal disorder, according to Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lawyer for his client.
Ejiofor claimed in a statement on Monday that the development came about as a result of the secessionist’s prior chronic heartburn.
The Department of State Services, or DSS, has allegedly been acting contrary to Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja’s directive that Kanu be given serious medical attention.

Shortly after paying the IPOB leader a visit at the DSS headquarters in Abuja on Monday, he sounded the alarm.
He said, “Presently, Onyendu is experiencing gastrointestinal disorder, which requires regular intake of antacid and other availing medical solutions, following persistent heartburn.
“Unfortunately, the DSS have denied him the least of the prescribed pain killer tablets that could provide momentary relief.
“Following this development, our erudite lead counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) has immediately swung into action to ensure immediate end to this maltreatment and impunity.”
