Bola Tinubu, the leader of the All Progressives Congress, is not running for president in 2023, according to Dino Melaye, the campaign spokeswoman for Atiku Abubakar.

There is no conferment in the upcoming election, according to Melaye, who also added that there is no shortcut to victory.

In his remarks, the former lawmaker who represented the Kogi West senatorial district charged the APC with attempting to capitalize on the PDP’s internal rift (PDP).

Melaye asserted that Atiku, the PDP’s presidential candidate, will not compromise those chosen by the party for his own ambition or to appease despotic democratic autocrats.

The former lawmaker claimed he would be content if Atiku lost support from some PDP members while abiding by the rules.

Melaye in a statement titled, ‘No short cut to victory said, “The hawkers of spin in the camp of Ahmed Bola Tinubu are at it again, this time latching unto a debatable forecast to award victory to a delusional candidate who claimed that the presidency of Nigeria is a categorical entitlement.

“The palace jesters are gloating over the orchestrated amplification of the agitation by some members of our party to sing a dirge, forgetting that advocacy is not only normal in a democracy, their very idol went riotous and danced naked in desperation when he sensed that the ticket of his discredited and failed political party was eluding him.”

In response to a statement from Tinubu’s campaign team, Melaye criticized Bayo Onanuga for predicting Tinubu will win the 2023 election as a result of the PDP turmoil.

He said that power belonged to God and that no one could claim to be God’s opponent.

The former lawmaker noted, “Atiku will continue to support the enthronement of strong institutions that can minimise the excesses of political Goliaths. And as it happened to Goliath, strong men get defeated, no matter the length of their domination.

“Waiting to benefit from the internal synthesis that may play out in the PDP is a wait in futility. The tears of opposition are only flowing from the demonstrable capacity of Atiku for political sagacity.
