Tuesday, the National Industrial Court in Abuja dismissed a lawsuit brought by Umar Lawal, a National Association of Nigerian Students factional president, asking the court to order the Academic Staff Union of Universities to end its strike and resume teaching.

NICN/ABJ/273/2022, which Lawal said he filed on behalf of himself and NANS, was withdrawn when the case was discussed in court on Tuesday.

Lawal told the court presided over by Justice Polycarp Hamman that he had fled a motion of discontinuance on the account of the challenge by the student body which contested his standing and denied that he is the President of NANS as he had deposed to.
