Soldiers And Others Killed By Gunmen In Anambra

On Wednesday, a security patrol near the Nkwo Market in Umunze in the Orumba South Local Government of Anambra State was ambushed by some unidentified gunmen.

The security guards were reportedly ambushed by gunmen when they were out on patrol.

Unknown numbers of soldiers and civilians were killed during the attack.

Although, an eyewitness disclosed to journalists that five soldiers and two civilians were killed in the incident.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident.

Ikenga, who did not confirm the casualty figures, said there were shootings close to a new generation bank in Umunze.

He stated that the details had not been received, adding that the incident happened between 12-1.30pm.

He said the command had deployed security operatives to secure the area, adding that those responsible for such actions would be dealt with.
