Some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains who were dissatisfied may have decided to oppose Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for the presidency or to take a neutral stance.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, among those who are said to be upset with Tinubu include the vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, the former transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi, and the Senate president, Ahmad Lawan.

After defeating the group to secure the APC presidential nomination on June 8, 2022, Tinubu has come under fire for allegedly failing to include them in his presidential campaign.

Additionally, it was learned that members of the ruling party are upset with the party’s choice to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the election.

APC leader Dr. Martins Apeh alleged in an interview with Newsmen on Saturday that Osinbajo turned down the invitation to join the party’s freshly unveiled presidential campaign council.

He said that Tinubu’s campaign had lost the support of Osinbajo and Amaechi, who will withdraw from it.

He said, “You see, Osinbajo believes in the New Nigeria Project, he doesn’t believe in the old politicians who may not have anything to offer to Nigerians but only see power as property that can be acquired.

“When Osinbajo lost the primary election, he stated clearly that his dream to support a New Nigeria has not changed. That should send a message to you and other Nigerians. Don’t be surprised if the VP makes a big announcement to support a candidate of another party.”

He stated that Amaechi, a former Rivers State Governor, is still very angry with the party on what played out during the APC primary, adding that “it was a shock to him and other Nigerians.”

He stated that individuals who wanted the country to function once again would not put another four years in the “hands of people they don’t feel can deliver” and suggested that Amaechi, Osinbajo, and Lawal might work for the presidential candidate of another party.

The cabals in the presidency were not pleased that Tinubu won the party’s nomination, according to Patrick Okwori, another party chieftain.

“Even some of us that are trying hard to push our party even to the grassroot levels, we are doing it not because of any candidate but because it is our party and the party must work.

“We have several stakeholders who are not happy that the party is fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket. If either Amaechi or Osinbajo had won the primary, the campaign would have been very easy because they are Christians, and getting a Muslim northerner would have been a simple thing,” he added.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) are additional presidential contenders that could receive support from Osinbajo, Lawan, and Ameachi.
