The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and governors chosen on the APC platform have been urged to answer for their interactions with Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, by President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a joint statement made available to Newsmen on Monday, party stakeholders stated that it is embarrassing for their leaders to be seen mingling with their rival in the run-up to the general elections of 2023.
Participants in a one-day consultative meeting that was held in the South-South over the past weekend, including candidates for the national assembly and state houses of assembly as well as other party members, expressed regret that party heavyweights like Tinubu traveled to Rivers to support Wike, who is their clear opposition in commissioning of state projects.

According to them, the development merely glorifies Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) camp and may be viewed as anti-party behavior.
In front of the general election in 2023, they expressed concern that Wike is receiving accolades from these activities.
APC National Vice Chairman of the zone, Chief Victor Giadom, presided over the gathering on Sunday night in Port Harcourt and demanded that Buhari immediately bring the leaders to order.
Dike Iheanyi Zubi, the state’s APC legal adviser, said that it was unjust for the South-governors West’s to conduct late-night meetings with Wike and then fly back to their states without engaging or speaking with their party’s constituents.
Further, Zubi claimed that the actions of Tinubu, who had met with Wike abroad, and the concerned governors amounted to anti-party activities and urged President Muhammadu Buhari to summon them (Tinubu and the South-West governors) to account.

He said, “It is very discouraging for the APC here in Rivers State to see a situation where the presidential candidate of our party, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his handlers, including South-West Governors of the APC coming to the state to undermine our party here in Rivers State.
“And they begin to hobnob and hold nocturnal meetings with Wike, who is seen as a contender with the APC here in the state.
“So, we as APC members here frown at such action because it doesn’t encourage us here. We consider it as anti-party on the side of Ahmed Tinubu and his cohorts.
“Instead of coming to strengthen the Rivers State chapter of the party, they are busy hobnobbing with Governor Wike, who is a PDP member. For the APC in Rivers State, we see it as an affront and anti-party.”

“So, I call on the national chairman of the party and President Buhari to call him (Tinubu) and his cohorts to order. They should stop dividing the Rivers APC. APC is one family,” Zubi added.
