PDP Crisis: See Conditions Wike, Makinde, Ortom, Others Give To Back Atiku

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and his group have put out requirements that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, must meet before they will support him in the general election in 2023.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Wike group, which is made up of the governors of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Benue, is demanding that the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, be removed before they could participate in the presidential campaign.

A highly placed insider claims that Atiku is under enormous pressure to give in to their demands as discord grows among PDP officials over the ongoing crisis in the opposition party.

According to the source, prominent PDP members are urging former vice president Atiku to agree to the Wike group’s demands in order to unify the party before the 2023 election.

It was reported that the five governors demanded that the removal of the national chairman be a requirement for their participation in the PDP presidential election at their meeting in Enugu.

A pro-Ayu member of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) also reacted to the incident by telling Newsmen that Wike and his men are unyielding in their demand that the national chairman be replaced.

The NEC member said that while Atiku is not opposed to removing Ayu, he does want the appropriate procedures to be followed in doing so.
