The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Presidential Campaign Council’s announcement was delayed, but not on purpose, according to Ladipo Johnson, a spokesperson for the Rabiu Kwankwaso Presidential Campaign Organization.

Johnson stated that the whole list of the campaign council’s members will be made public before Friday.

The candidate’s busy schedule, which has seen him build up additional offices across the nation, and Kwankwaso’s consultation about the list, he said, were to blame for the delay.

He said, “Our PCC is not being delayed deliberately. It will come out this week. It is just being done thoroughly. You will get a comprehensive list of the nominees this week.

“If you have been following our activities, you will know Kwankwaso has been busy opening up more offices and commissioning campaign centres all over the country. This has made our base to become energized. People are turning out to receive him.

“We agreed that the campaign has started but this campaign season is not like the normal one where you have them around November to December, just two months to campaign and election in February.

“But here we have about five months of the campaign to do things properly and know what we are doing. We still have enough time to bring the message home to Nigerians.”

Speaking further, Johnson stated that the NNPP candidate’s manifesto is ready and will be released soon.

“But we are planning to present it properly and that will be his social contract to Nigerians. A date will be announced for it in few days. But I am hopeful it can’t go beyond next week.”

He however failed to disclosed the state Kwankwaso is targeting to start his campaign, saying the party cannot afford to divulge such a strategy to the media.

He said, “But I can assure you that we are covering all the states that are necessary for us to make an impact to win the election by also getting the needed 25 per cent in two-thirds of the states.”
