The trio of Sylvester, Bernard, and Godspower, who were my coworkers at the National Assembly in Abuja at the time, made fun of me one fateful day in July 2019. We frequently sneer at one another and make fun of it because we constantly do.

We had a unique kind of joking session on this particular day. They had teased me about a particular stunning young woman who had been sent from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abuja to the National Assembly Complex. She set out to serve her country on a mission.

That morning, she was headed to her ‘Place of Primary Assignment’ for documentation when she walked upto us, greeted and asked for directions. She was new to the complex and needed a little guidance, not knowing that on this day, angels were on guard. In concert we directed her.

Before, she could walk away from us, my colleagues had begun to jeer at me. They wanted me to ask for her mobile phone number as I can’t tell, since I was becoming a repentant and rampant bachelor. Right there, we all laughed over it. I could see her make a smile, her dimples aligning with her pretty eyes. We then exchanged contacts, inquired of each others name and began to communicate. That was the beginning of history that was designed to happen.

Long before I met Choco-coco, my love life oscillates from complicated to non-existent. Truly, I have not experienced true love. I also don’t believe in soul mates. In all relationships I had had, my only goal have been to keep my partner happy, and to be there when they need me.

My strange take about love vanished in a blinker on that first day I set my eyes on her. I can tell that something changed in me permanently. As we advanced in the relationship, I realised that it was love that happened to me. It continued with the pulses and pluses, through the nurturing phase to the conclusive stage that I felt like a man who was under a spell. It appeared that any time my eyes locks with hers, my senses go into mild convulsion, my impulses awake in dopamine and my dendrites poking in reverence of a sensational feeling of love and romance.

That was not all, we communicate easily and effectively, and could talk about anything serious and unserious, sometimes in pillow tones.

These wild experiences persisted until January 2020, when I formally asked her to be my girl friend. On that day, we teased about it having had the best of experiences agreeing and disagreeing, and finding bonding in our compatibility and resentment.

In retrospect, my love life was leading nowhere unabated, until she appeared, stepped in and gave it a new direction. She also gave meaning to my life, and I cannot thank her enough for being who she is and accepting me the way I am. There is no single thing I would like to change about her. I love the way she would grab me, and kiss me. Many times, uncontrollable.

I know she has alot of chocolates and hugs somewhere for me right now!

She naturally completes me.
