The Lagos State government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, declared on Friday that construction of an airport in the state’s Lekki neighborhood will begin in 2019.

Jubril Gawat, Sanwo-assistant Olu’s for new media, cited Ope George, the governor’s special adviser on public-private partnerships, as saying the project will be completed on 3,500 hectares of land nearby.

He claims that plans are already in place, and studies are still being conducted, to start the master plan project.
