Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, claims that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, isn’t shown any desire for the party’s current problem to be resolved.

Speaking on Friday, Wike said Atiku and his supporters’ actions and attitudes can only be regarded as regrettable.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Atiku declared that the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, had earned the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), and that the Governor’s selection over other candidates to serve as his running mate in the 2023 election was justified.

In a succinct message posted on his social media page, Atiku congratulated the PDP governor on receiving the national honor. He claimed that this was yet another reason why he was right to choose the governor as his running mate among other options.

Atiku’s message to Okowa read: “Today’s conferment of the National Honour on Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa by President Muhammadu Buhari is a testimonial that I made the right decision in tapping an achiever as my Vice Presidential candidate for the 2023 election. On behalf of my family, our team and our supporters, I say congratulations.”

The former vice president’s proposal is interpreted as a covert attack on Governor Wike, who was also expected to become the PDP’s vice presidential nominee for 2023 until circumstances conspired against him.

Wike, the PDP presidential candidate, responded to the statement attributed to Atiku during his Friday media conference by saying it demonstrates the latter’s lack of readiness for peace.

The governor of Rivers State further said that the infrastructure award that President Muhammadu Buhari will present to him is more significant than other national honors.

Wike added that Okowa has already been awarded the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), which was only given to him in 2022.
