Senator Baba Ahmed Datti, the vice presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has urged Nigerians to disregard politicians who incite animosity among the public via the use of religion and tribalism.

Senator Datti made this statement in a Minna interview that followed a town-hall gathering with party leaders in the Niger state.

The Coalition of Obi/Datti Support Groups and other candidates for the various elected offices are also present at the gathering.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reigned for 24 years, he noted, with little to show for their efforts; instead, the nation is plagued by insecurity, corruption, and other problems.

The LP VP candidate noted, ”If the APC and the PDP are better after 24 years combined of governance, why are we still witnessing the challenges we are facing? Nigerians, it’s time to take back our country.”

He asked the populace to ignore such people in order to prevent the nation from falling apart in response to some presidential candidates and religious leaders in Nigeria who are purportedly encouraging their followers to vote along religious and tribal lines.

“I urge you to ignore such people and vote for credibility, competence, character, equity, fairness and justice to save Nigeria from disintegration,” Datti maintained.

Additionally, he urged the many young people in the country to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and turn out in large numbers to vote out incumbent lawmakers.

“When politicians who have nothing to cover up their lies and lack of ideas to resolve the mileage of problems Nigeria is facing, they will look for anything to create confusion, religion and tribalism comes handy hence Nigerians should not fall for their antics,” he insisted.

Before the presidential campaigns arrived in the state, the Coalition of Support Groups for Peter Obi and Ahmed Datti in Niger State held a stakeholders conference to discuss how to get people out to vote.
