Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has requested that Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s current national chairman, quit.

Speaking on the dilemma affecting the PDP, Wike argued that the best course of action is to remove the “Jonah” (a character from a Bible narrative) who has gained recognition within the organization in order to prevent the party’s ship from sinking or capsizing prior to the 2023 elections.

He compared Ayu to the biblical character Jonah, who caused trouble on a ship he joined with others and had to be cast overboard in order to steady the vessel.

According to the Governor, if this is done, Ayu and the party will both survive.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the turmoil engulfing the main opposition party began when Atiku Abubakar emerged as the party’s presidential candidate and chose Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

This is because in response to the incident, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers and his allies have pledged not to support the party’s presidential candidates unless Ayu steps down and is replaced by a person from the south.

The Rivers State Governor made further comments regarding the circumstance in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday by his media assistant, Kelvin Ebiri, and emphasized that Ayu’s resignation is the only option.

+He argued that the simple issue of inclusivity that he and his allies are requesting, so every region is given a sense of belonging.

“So, as the ship was going down, they went to Jonah, who said it’s me, it’s not the ship, and they took Jonah out of the ship. Jonah did not die.
