Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated on Thursday that he was unable to comment on the party’s candidates’ commitment to Bola Tinubu’s bid for the presidency.

This was said by Adamu in response to those party candidates for president who Tinubu defeated in the June 8 presidential primaries remaining silent.

Since losing the presidential ticket, some candidates for the office, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, have not been dedicated to party operations.

Osinbajo was not included in the ruling party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), but Lawan and Amaechi were named as advisers in the updated list made public on Wednesday.

The change happened since Adamu regretted how the party was operating when he took the helm in March of this year.

At a media discussion on Thursday in Abuja, Adamu added that the process of reconciliation was still ongoing.

Prior to the general elections in 2023, the APC National Chairman noted that the ruling party is in contact with the prospective presidents.

To the best of our knowledge, Osinbajo, Lawan, and Amaechi are involved in this endeavor, Adamu responded when queried about them.

“However, each of the aspirants at the convention is still alive and as journalists, you owe it a duty to have observed or have the state of mind that requires knowing where they stand today.

“It will be a bit absurd for me to start talking to them about things I feel you have not seen or heard from them. As for reconciliation, it is still a work in progress and we have been doing it.

“We have been talking to them and these guys are still very much around the political space. You can ask them whatever your observations are.”
