Allegations that the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) forbade Muslims from joining their camp on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway have been met with a response from the organization.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), through its director Prof. Ishaq Akintola, said that Muslims were barred from using their banks to conduct business or from visiting their WAEC, JAMB, and other exam centers.

Therefore, he urged that the exam sites be moved from the RCCG camp, claiming that MURIC had received a deluge of complaints from Nigerian Muslims who had been denied admission to the Redemption Camp near the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

MURIC said, “Among the complainants are Muslims who registered for the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) as well as other examinations. Attempts by the candidates to enter the RCCG camp in order to check their examination centres are always rebuffed by RCCG security men who turn them back at the gates with clear messages that Muslims are persona non grata inside the camp.”

The RCCG spokesperson, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi, responded to the accusation in an interview with Newsmen, saying it was baseless and that the camp was still open to anyone with a legal enterprise.

Olubiyi said, “All I can tell you is that it is a fake news. Those behind it may have their own script they are playing out but I can assure you that the Redemption City of God remains accessible to anyone who has a legal and genuine purpose for seeking access.”
