How CHAPOL Has Helped Shape Educational Discipline In Anambra State – Commandant Ekwunife

The Anambra State Commandant of Chaplain Corps Policing Explorers (CHAPOL), Mr. Joseph Ekwunife has rolled out the achievement of para-military and non governmental organisation in government secondary schools across the state.

Ekwunife revealed this to Anaedoonline.ng on Thursday at the Nnewi Bishops Court during the decoration of Nnewi Anglican Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, as a patron of the group.

In the nine years that she has operated in the state’s public secondary secondary schools, Commandant Ekwunife stated that CHAPOL’s presence has not only assisted in reducing the prevalence of social vices among students, but has also made significant progress in character formation of the pupils.

He added that CHAPOL’s activities in government secondary schools also involve teaching pupils about practical moral principles, keeping track of students’ arrival times, and keeping an eye out for loitering and truancy during school hours.

Mr. Ekwunife also disclosed the zones they have already visited and the zones they will be visiting.

“Presently, our operations is ongoing in schools located at Ogidi, Nnewi, Otuocha and Aguata zones having concluded our operations in Awka and Onitsha zones during the last term”.

The state commandant commended Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR, the governor of Anambra State, for supporting CHAPOL operations in schools through Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Ude, the state’s commissioner for education, whom she said appreciated CHAPOL for the smooth way with which they have piloted their operations for nine years in the schools.

He however revealed that the state government have assured that they will soon look into the challenges of CHAPOL to ensure that the exercise is sustained stressing that the government of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has come to Profer Solutions and CHAPOL will not be left out.

Ekwunife took advantage of the opportunity to make an appeal to prominent Anambra citizens to rally support for CHAPOL Anambra State Command in the form of operational vehicle donations, highlighting the fact that this will enable their officers to cover more schools while also highlighting the fact that CHAPOL services are more important than ever for students in government secondary schools in Anambra State given the recent rise in youth involvement in violent crimes.

The event featured top personalities of CHAPOL ; Deputy Commandant, CHAPOL Okechukwu Belonwu, State School coordinator for Youth and Women Affairs Lovefrank Aniakor, Nnewi Coordinator Madu Nwaoha Ferdinand, State Director of Operations, Anambra State Command Nwashili Kingsley, Nanka Unit Commander Mike Ubamadu and Ukpor Unit Commander Sylvester Akelu.
