The Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria employees’ industrial action has been put on hold.

Mr. Bala Wunti, the Chief Upstream Investment Officer of the NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services, announced the cessation of the strike on Monday.

The workers had started their strike action last week under the supervision of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).

Despite the strike, according to Bala, the asset has continued to produce in accordance with the agreement struck last week.

He said, “Sequel to several stakeholder engagements with NNPC Limited, the industrial action embarked upon by ADDAX PENGASSAN Members has been called off with immediate effect and work has resumed fully.

“It should be noted that the asset has continued production despite the strike in line with the understanding reached last week.”

A total of 324 Nigerian workers at Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria claimed that the business engaged in anti-labor actions that put their safety and security in jeopardy.

Sinopec Group of China owns Addax and has four oil mining licenses, numbered OML 123, 124, 126, and 137.

As part of a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) with NNPC Ltd., the company is managing the assets.

In March 2021, the government revoked Addax’s operating permits because the firm refused to finish developing its oil wells.
