Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), were both absent from a presidential debate intended to allow hopefuls to speak about their ideas for Nigeria.
Atiku, on the other hand, was represented by his running mate, Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Only Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), and presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, Kola Abiola, attended the debate, a ‘presidential town hall’ organized by the Centre for Democracy and Development and Arise Television.

The candidates were chosen based on their parties’ performance in an online survey conducted by the organizers, in which all 18 political parties were listed alphabetically.
“The result of this survey informed our decision to invite the highest four scoring parties – LP, APC, PDP and NNPP to the town hall,” the Director of the CDD, Idayat Hassan, said in a statement.
