UPDATE: Unknown Gunmen Attack Soldiers In Imo Community
The assassination of the driver of a Dangote truck by a juvenile three days earlier prompted the military to expand their patrol.
While there were intermittent shootings following the purported attack on the patrol squad, a local who chose anonymity corroborated the occurrence, explaining it as an invasion.
According to him, the soldiers entered the community and fired intermittently.
However, Captain Joseph Akubo of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, who corroborated the incident in an interview, disputed that soldiers entered the town.
He claimed that the kids attacked the soldiers who were on a routine patrol in response to heightened criminal activity in the region.
