Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has requested Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to apologize for leaving him out of the Presidential Campaign Council.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Mohammed, a past presidential candidate, was recently selected as the Vice Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (North-East).

Governor Mohammed stated in a protest letter dated November 3, 2022, and addressed to the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, that Atiku had not shown him the necessary respect and confidence to work.

The governor alleged in the letter that he was excluded from the campaign council’s actions relating to his office and was not consulted on certain issues.

Governor Mohammed went on to say that he was the only PDP presidential candidate who did not visit Atiku after the primaries for reconciliation.

According to the governor, Atiku threatened him with legal action since he ran against him in the party’s presidential primary in Abuja, and he was targeted by some political gladiators loyal to Atiku.

As a result, he vowed to drop the former Vice President in the upcoming presidential race unless he made amends fast.

Mohammed, his deputy, Senator Baba Tela, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Abubakar Suleiman, the state Chairman of the PDP, Hamza Akuyam, and 30 others signed the letter.

The letter reads: “I was deliberately sidelined from the reach-out campaign of the PCC in Kaduna, which interacted with major stakeholder groups and the northern political establishments such as the Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elders Forum, Sadauna Foundation, Arewa Research, and Development Progress, etcetera.

“I was targeted by some political gladiators purportedly endorsed “directly or indirectly by the presidential candidate of our party, Atiku Abubakar.

“The self-acclaimed ‘kingmakers’ around the Waziri Adamawa want a pound of flesh from me because I have refused to capitulate to their unbridled sense of entitlement which is pregnant with selfishness and dictatorial tendencies.

“The last group of the “Bala Must Go” campaigners are those whose egos have been bruised by my continued political relevance, rising national profile, and the groundswell of public acclamation that have trailed unprecedented developmental strides of the PDP-led administration in the state.”

This comes just days after Ayu, along with Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, visited Bauchi State on Saturday.

Anaedoonline.ng remembers that Atiku has yet to address the issues of the five PDP governors led by Rivers State’s Nyesom Wike. The governors have stated that they will not back Atiku unless Ayu resigns as the party’s National Chairman and is replaced with a southerner.
