After meeting with his colleague, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike gave further light on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) turmoil.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Wike and four of his allies, known as the G5, paid a visit to Bala in Bauchi.

The visit follows accusations that Bala is planning to withdraw from the party’s presidential campaign due to allegations that the party’s standard bearer, Atiku Abubakar, is working against his own re-election.

Following the meeting, Wike stated that the path to reconciliation is still open and that if the right thing is done, peace would be restored to the party.

He said, “I have stated severally that we are here for reconciliation. We have never closed the door for reconciliation. All we are calling for is equity, fairness, and justice. In fact, that is the hallmark that PDP stands for. We have never closed the door and we would not close the door.

“All we are saying is, ‘Look, let the right thing be done.’ If the right thing is done, the whole country would know that the election is over. This G5 you are seeing is the bedrock of the party so we would not close the door for reconciliation; we are open for reconciliation any day, anytime.”

Wike and his supporters have been at odds with the party since the Rivers governor lost the PDP presidential primaries to Atiku.
