US Midterm Elections: Dead Lawmaker, DeLuca Reelected In Pennsylvania

Anthony DeLuca, a Pennsylvania state lawmaker who died in October, was re-elected at the United States midterm elections.

According to Fox News, DeLuca died on October 9, 2022, “after a brief fight with lymphoma, a condition he had twice before beaten.”

Before his death, the 85-year-old Democrat was Pennsylvania’s longest-serving state representative.

The Pennsylvania House Democrats Caucus responded to his reelection by saying, “While we are incredibly saddened by the loss of Representative Tony DeLuca, we are proud to see the voters continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously.”

“A special election will follow soon.”

DeLuca had lived in Penn Hills for nearly 60 years.

He began his political career as a member of the Penn Hills Government Study Commission.

He stood for his legislative position after five years as a Penn Hills Councilman, followed by two years as Penn Hills Deputy Mayor. He defeated the Republican incumbent.
