Former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) is planning to intervene in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dispute before of the 2023 general elections.
The main opposition party’s governors, known as the G-5, had sworn not to back the party’s flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, in his presidential bid.
The Governors had spoken out against northern domination in key posts within the party.
The Governors’ position was to ask for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Oyo State) are the governors.
According to Leadership, the IBB will meet behind closed doors with Atiku and the dissatisfied Governors.
Anaedoonline.ng has learned that the meeting will take place on Friday in Minna, the capital of Niger State.
IBB’s meeting with Atiku and the PDP Governors comes only days after he met with the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his team at his hilltop mansion in Minna.
According to sources, IBB’s reconciliation initiative may have been supported by a former top military intelligence officer and some northern interest groups backing Atiku’s presidency.
