BREAKING: Unknown Gunmen Attack Bullion Van In Anambra

On Thursday evening, gunmen suspected of robbery attacked a bullion van in Ufuma, Orumba South Local Government Area, Anambra State.

According to a source who spoke to Newsmen, the bullion van was transporting cash to an unspecified location when the gunmen followed them to the agrarian community of Ufuma and opened fire on the truck and security men accompanying it.

“It happened at about 5pm today (Thursday), and there was heavy shooting in the area.

“All the residents of the community fled, while security operatives attached to the bullion van battled the armed robbers. The police was able to stop them from succeeding,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the incidence has been confirmed by the State Police command.

DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesperson, said the incident occurred at 4 p.m., but the armed men were eventually repulsed.

He said: “Operatives attached to the bullion van gallantly repelled the attack. The incident happen at about 4pm in Umunebo junction, Ufuma.

“The Commissioner of police CP Echeng Echeng has since ordered immediate manhunt on the attackers. The operational vehicles belonging to the armed robbers have been recovered.”

He stated that the burglars’ Lexus and Highlander jeeps had been recovered. One empty magazine, a vandalized bulletproof vest, charms, and several incriminating materials were also seized.
