Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has stated that if anyone can provide proof that he accepted a land grant as governor of Anambra state, he will cease all of his presidential ambitions.
This was expressed by the LP flag bearer during a visit to the palace of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, in Edo State on Friday.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the LP flag bearer paid a visit to the respected Benin monarch while campaigning in Edo ahead of the February elections.

Oba Ewuare II welcomed the presidential candidate to his palace and used the occasion to clarify a viral document in which Obi rejected land allocation from the Anambra State Government while he was a governor.
Obi said, “Your Excellency, somebody shows me a letter where land was given to you in your state and you politely returned it that you don’t need it; that you are there to serve and so on. Correct?” the first-class monarch asked.
“Very correct.
“If anybody sees a piece of land allotted to me, my wife, or any of my family members, directly or indirectly when I was governor, I will stop campaigning.”

Obi’s two-term intermittent tenure as governor of Anambra between 2006 and 2014 was marred with legal battles up to the Supreme Court.
