Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike stated on Thursday that Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has all the “characteristics” to govern Nigeria.
Wike also promised to help Obi, a former Anambra State governor, with logistics for his presidential campaign.
The Rivers governor made the announcement in Port Harcourt, the state capital, at the inauguration of the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover.

“Each time you want to campaign in the state, let me know, all the logistics support, we will give to you,” Wike told Obi.
“I know you as a person, you have all the criteria, you have all the characteristics to lead this country, you have it. Nobody can deny that for you.”
Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, were in the state capital to dedicate the current administration’s ninth flyover. They were greeted enthusiastically by a large crowd of their followers known as ‘Obidients.’
For months, Wike and four other governors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have demanded the resignation of PDP national chairman Iyorchia Ayu as a condition for supporting the party’s presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar.

While Wike and his associates have not been spotted campaigning for Atiku, it is unclear whether they will back Obi or Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the fight for Aso Rock’s top post, which experts and sharp watchers have described as a three-horse race.
