On Thursday, a massive throng greeted the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running partner, Datti Baba-Ahmed, to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, for the commissioning of the 9th flyover by the current administration.

Governor Nyesom Wike welcomed Obi and Baba-Ahmed and invited them to the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo Flyover inauguration.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, and his running mate were greeted enthusiastically by a big crowd of their fans known as ‘Obidients.’

Adams Oshiomhole, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), dedicated the Rumuepirikom Flyover in Obio-Akpor on Wednesday.

In addition, APC President Muhammadu Buhari will dedicate the Nabo Graham Douglas Campus, Nigerian Law School, in Obio/Akpor on Friday, while the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, will dedicate a project next week.

Obi had already visited Wike for advice ahead of the 2023 general elections and during the PDP’s crisis.

For months, Wike and four other governors have demanded the resignation of PDP national chairman Iyorchia Ayu as a condition for backing the party’s presidential nominee, Atiku Abubakar.

While Wike and his allies have not been seen campaigning for Atiku, it is unclear whether they will back Obi or APC’s Bola Tinubu in the race for Aso Rock’s top job, which analysts and keen observers have described as a three-horse race.
