On Tuesday, a team of police and vigilante operatives apprehended a four-man robbery gang that was harassing Ogidi and its environs, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The security operatives’ efforts paid off after an operation along Atta Road, Nkpor Community, in Idemili LGA, when they captured the bandits sharing their loot.

It was discovered that the suspects went to split their wealth at an unfinished structure nearby after their robbery operation on Atta Road before being apprehended by security personnel.

One of the thieves was wounded in the leg during the event, while the others managed to flee with bullet wounds.

Ahmed Sani, the Ogidi Divisional Police Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that two guns, a barratta pistol and one cut-to-size local gun, were discovered at the scene.

Sani asserted that in order to fight the robbers, the police and vigilantes have to collaborate.

“The one who was shot in his legs was arrested while the others fled with bullet wounds, and the investigation is ongoing toward arresting the runaway suspects,” he said.

The location is being monitored around the clock, and security has been increased. Those fleeing suspects are being pursued.

Residents in the area expressed their joy at the detention of one of the robbers and advised police to keep an eye on the area during the forthcoming Yuletide season because the suspect was one of the criminals who terrorized the neighborhood every day.

A resident, Okey Uzor, alleged that the police had limited their services to the barracks, which was why the robbers continued to keep them awake at night.

“Our issue is that due to the actions of unidentified gunmen, the police are no longer on patrol.” “Robbers now take advantage of it to steal from and hurt the defenseless public at will, without concern for attack,” he continued.
