2023: Igbo Traders Donate N1bn To Support Tinubu And APC

Two thousand South Eastern traders have contributed N1 billion to the campaign of Aswáj Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma announced this on Thursday during a Town Hall meeting with Tinubu and regional business leaders.

He stated that the group’s membership was selected from the region’s five states.

“I am happy to say our people are fully in support of our Presidential candidate who has come to share his vision and plan for Nigeria and South East today. To support this aspiration the sum of N1billion naira has been raised by 2000 business owners across the South East states,” said Governor Uzodimma.

Emeka Mgbudem, a spokesman for the group, stated that the group believes in Nigeria and is committed to peace.

He stated that members gave N500,000 each after reading Tinubu’s Action Plan for Nigeria and believing in him.

He stated that where an Ibo man invests his money is also where he puts his heart.

He did, however, request that Tinubu eliminate the numerous checkpoints on the region’s roadways and develop roads connecting the region’s state capitals.

Tinubu responded by promising to implement technology in the clearing of goods at ports that will eliminate the need for road checkpoints.

He also promised to lead a government that treats all Nigerians equally.
