Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, asked Benue State residents on Friday to vote for candidates who understand their plight.
According to him, the general elections in 2023 should produce leaders who would restore normalcy to the state following repeated attacks by alleged Fulani herdsmen.
The former Anambra governor provided the advice while speaking to supporters in the state’s Gboko Local Government Area on Friday.

“Vote for those people who know you and know your pains. Next year please, vote for the right persons. We want a Benue where children will be in school and everything will be normal,” he said.
Several citizens of the state have been evacuated from their ancestral homes as a result of unprovoked attacks by armed men suspected of being Fulani herders.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, some Benueans recently clashed with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for reportedly siding with Fulani people during attacks.
