Abdulrasheed Bawa, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, stated on Thursday that the Federal Government’s Naira redesign has increased the number of governors on their watchlist.
After meeting with the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari, Bawa informed media at the State House (retd).
During his remarks, the EFCC chairman declined to comment on the number of governors currently under the commission’s scrutiny.
EFCC Chair – Naira Redesign Targets Looted Funds
He said, “Our agency is pleased with the redesign of the naira note because the policy would help the Central Bank of Nigeria control the monies in the system and by extension, enable more money for people to borrow.
“It is my belief (as a student of economics) that the redesigning of the Naira will cause the value of the dollar currently at N890 to crash to N200.
He confirms that the sting operations to the Bureau De Change operators were successful, with large recovery made.
Bawa also asked Nigerians to embrace the new policy, as well as to take advantage of the whistleblower policy.
